UCCW – Ronald McDonald House Charities

This May, Universal Contracting Community Works (UCCW) will be preparing dinner for about 50 residents of the Ronald McDonald House. The family facility holds a special place in the hearts of several Universal associates, as their lives have been personally touched by this special program for their own hospitalized family members.
The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Florida is to find, create, and support programs that directly support the health and well-being of children and families. Their cornerstone program, the Ronald McDonald House®, provides a home away from home for families with children receiving treatment at hospitals and medical facilities in Orlando. Before the Ronald McDonald Houses, parents were sleeping in their cars or in chairs in the waiting room, eating out of vending machines, or bearing the expense of impersonal hotel rooms. Providing two house facilities in Orlando – one on the campus of Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and one on the campus of Florida Hospital for Children – each year they provide housing for about 1,800 families so they can be close to their critically ill children.
